Executive Director:
Mildred Townsend Walters, executive director of NBIC, has been in the position since December 2002. Prior to the appointment to her current position, she had served as the director of Public Service for the Tennessee State University College of Business. Housing over 22 small businesses, the NBIC is the first incubator in Tennessee which is operated directly by a college or university.

As a CoachU trained business coach, Walters helps her clients bridge the gap between their current status and their goals. She is also the author of four romance novels.

Concurrent with her full-time employment, Walters co-owned a small business. The business, a specialty advertising company, was located in the Chattanooga Business Incubation Center at one time. She has also worked as a fund-raising professional in St. Louis, Missouri; Tampa, Florida; and Chattanooga, Tennessee.


Assistant to the Director:
Angela Crane-Jones has served as assistant director of the Nashville Business Incubation Center since 2003. As assistant director, Mrs. Crane-Jones has taken a leadership role in securing consulting services for the center's clients.

Prior to joining the center’s staff, Ms. Crane-Jones was owner/operator of two Dairy Queen Restaurants where she gained valuable experience in retail and food operations, marketing, and forecasting.

She holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree and a Master of Arts degree from Tennessee State University.


Administrative Assistant III:
Allyson L. McIntyre, D.M.A. serves as Administrative Assistant III for the Nashville Business Incubation Center. Dr. McIntyre has over seven years of work experience for private and state colleges and universities, including Truett-McConnell College (Cleveland, GA), Stetson University (DeLand, FL), and Tennessee State University (Nashville, TN). In addition to providing client support at NBIC, Dr. McIntyre volunteers at the W.O. Smith School of Music, and provides technical writing assistance to Black Willow, Inc.

Dr. McIntyre holds a Bachelor of Music in Music Theory/Composition from Stetson University, a Master of Music in Composition from Belmont University, and a Doctor of Musical Arts in Composition from the University of Georgia.
